From about 1887 to 1897 Swami Akhandananda wandered the Himalayas visiting holy sites. An intrepid pilgrim,Gangadhar Maharaj, as he was more familiarly known, visited Tibet three times besides stopping at most of the important Himalayan pilgrimage centers. Things have changed a great deal in that part of the world, but it is hoped that this book will still convey some inspiration to all those who long for something sacred in this fallen world.
