About Us
RAMAKRISHNA MATH is a registered society in which monks of Ramakrishna Math and lay devotees cooperate in conducting various types of social service mainly in India. It was founded by Sri Ramakrishna's chief apostle, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), We 180 branch centers all over India and in different parts of the world. The Headquarters of these centers are situated in Belur Math.
Swamiji’s Vision
Swami Vivekananda’s main emphasis was on man-making, the holistic development of human personality.
His memorable words were : “ The aim of this institution is to make men and women. ... You must have this new method - the method of man-making. The true man is he who is strong as strength itself and yet possesses a woman’s heart. You must feel for the millions of beings around you, and yet you must be strong and flexible and you must also possess obedience; though it may seem a little paradoxical - you must possess these apparently conflicting virtues. ... You must be free as the air, and as obedient as this plant and the dog. “
To educate our children and youth with Swami Vivekananda’s man-making, nation building and character building ideas, and to help them develop a total personality to become good citizens of India, is the main objective of Ramakrishna Math - Pune in starting ‘Vivekananda Jnanapeeth’.

The Three Branches of Vivekananda Jnanapeeth :
To train our youth in various fields, the Vivekananda Jnanapeeth will have three branches:
- Sister Nivedita School of Languages
- Vivekananda School of Human Excellence
- Vivekananda School of Culture
The Jnanapeeth will run regular courses for youth, children, teachers, students, government employees, corporate employees, professionals, social leaders and others.
The Jnanapeeth will offer different courses in the following subjects: Indian Culture, Philosophy, Sanskrit Language, Yoga, Meditation, Vedanta, Music, Psychology, Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, Concentration of the Mind, Self-Confidence, Work Ethics, Moral Values, Personality Development, Emotional Stability, Inter-Human Relationships, Indian and Foreign Languages, and so on.
It is our conviction that the youth trained in this Institute will be able to give their valuable contribution to fulfill Swamiji’s dream of rebuilding a great and glorious India of the future.
