Bhagavad Gita - The Divine Message: Set of 2 Volumes Text in Devanagari with English Translation and explanation in English. The universal teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, or the divine message of Sri Krishna, form the part of the Bhishmaparva of the Mahābhārata (Mahabharata). The divine teachings of the Gita have been depicted in the dialogue between Sri Krishna and the warrior Arjuna. Krishna stands for the voice of God, delivering his message in the thrilling notes, warning Arjuna against dejection of spirit. As the dialogues proceeds, the dramatic element disappears. The echoes of the battle-field die away, and we have only an interview between God and man. Swami Abhedananda's treatment on the Bhagavad Gita is somewhat different and new. His explanation in this book of the Gita can be said to be something new and original. Swami has not explained the Gita sloka (verse) by sloka of all the chapters, but has selected and explained the main and important slokas of every chapter of the Gita and has given their religion, ethics and philosophy. The swami has also given the psychology of the Bhagavad Gita and has compared it with the psychological movements of the mind of every man and has given their solution. Swami Abhedananda was one of the sixteen monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. The fact that these insightful lectures on Gita were delivered by a monastic disciple of Sri Ramakrishna adds more weight to the book. The entire Bhagavad Gita has been divided into eighteen chapters: Arjuna-vishāda-yoga Sānkhya-yoga (Sankhya Yoga) Karma-yoga Jnana-yoga Sannyasa-yoga Dhyana-yoga Jnana-vijnana-yoga Akshara-brahma-yoga Raja-yoga Kshetra-Kshetrajna-yoga Gunatraya-vibhaga-yoga Bhakti-yoga Kshetra-kshetrajna-yoga Gunatraya-vibhaga-yoga Purushottama-yoga Daivasura-sampad-vibhaga-yoga Shraddhatraya-vibhaga-yoga Moksha-yoga
